微生物や植物などから採れる天然の有機化合物を薬として使うには、効き目の弱さ、副作用の可能性といった「弱み」の克服が課題。この研究室では医薬品になる可能性を秘めた天然有機化合物の全合成を行い、さらに「弱み」を解消する改良を加えます。こうした創薬と深く結びついた化学合成の研究は薬学部ならでは。
