Objectives Policy

Educational Objectives

In order to provide education and conduct research on the control of infectious diseases and major associated diseases and the development of new medicines, the Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences provides education with a focus on preventive medicine and therapeutic methods, and also aims to foster people with interdisciplinary capacities and advanced technologies to conduct academic research.
The objectives of its education and research are to:

  1. determine the mechanisms of pathogenic microbes and states of infectious diseases,
  2. apply genomic analysis to the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases and determination of target molecules,
  3. establish diagnosis/prevention/treatment methods based on advanced biotechnologies,
  4. conduct translational research on microbial- and plant-derived bioactive compounds, and
  5. conduct research and studies related to infection control.

Curriculum Policy

As its curriculum policy, the Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences aims to foster experts in the field of life sciences, who specialize in the control of and drug development for infectious diseases and their major associated diseases with interdisciplinary capacities and highly advanced skills to solve problems.
Thus, the curricula have been organized based on an "education network" that allows the students to:

  1. ake classes in their own major subjects, present the results of their studies at meetings, and engage in special research, as well as take major and related subjects offered at other graduate schools to gain expertise in various fields of study, and
  2. learn and refine their practical research skills by participating in project research at Kitasato Institute for Life Sciences, where they will gain hands-on experience in the front line of their chosen subject area.

Diploma Policy

As its curriculum policy, the Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences aims to foster experts in the field of life sciences, who specialize in the control of and drug development for infectious diseases and their major associated diseases with interdisciplinary capacities and highly advanced skills to solve problems.

Diploma Policy

The Graduate School of Infection Control Sciences promotes education and research on the control of and drug development for infectious diseases and their major associated diseases, and fosters, in an organized manner, experts, who can meet social demands in the field of life sciences.
Therefore, it has a policy to award academic degrees to:

  1. students who have strived in their academic research and attained results in original and practical research,
  2. students who have gained distinguished skills and capabilities to apply them to social changes, and
  3. students who are of humane character and capable of academic exchange with researchers specializing in other fields of study.
