Why is treatment using Kampo medicine charged to the patient, rather than being covered by health insurance?

One of the most important keys in Kampo medicine is crude drugs. Unfortunately, health insurance can be used only for a limited number of crude drugs, and does not cover the use of high-quality Kampo crude drugs.

At our Oriental Medicine Research Center, we provide patients with the highest level of healthcare by performing medical treatment with a high degree of freedom. We do this by rigorously and generously selecting high-quality Kampo crude drugs that are required for treatment, to ensure that the drugs prescribed to individual patients demonstrate maximum therapeutic effects.

To enhance the finest therapeutic effects even further, we decided to implement treatment provided at the patients’ own expense, or out-of-insurance treatment, a system of healthcare that frees us from a variety of restrictions. These are the therapeutic policies behind our decision to offer treatment at patients' own expense.
